THE LEAD DOG PROJECT
Membership Benefits Policy

Purpose

This policy outlines the current benefits available to members of The Lead Dog Project. Membership benefits are intended to recognize and thank individuals for supporting the organization’s mission to educate, inspire, and connect people through sled dog sports.

Membership benefits are established by the Board of Directors and may be modified at any time without amendment to the bylaws.

1. Membership Year & Dues

The membership year for The Lead Dog Project runs from October 1 through September 30, as defined in Article III, Section III of the bylaws.

Regular Annual Membership

  • $20 per person per year
  • Free for members age 14 and under
  • Benefits remain active for the current membership year

Legacy Membership (2026-2027 Inaugural Membership Year Only)

  • $125 per person
  • Available only once during the organization’s inaugural membership year
  • Follows the same annual term and renewal structure as Regular Membership.

Lifetime Membership 

  • Coming in 2027

2. Eligibility for Benefits

Any individual with an active membership, as defined in Article II of the bylaws, is eligible to receive the benefits outlined in this policy during their membership period.

Voting privileges are determined according to the bylaws.

3. Current Member Benefits

Active members may receive the following benefits:

LDP Memorabilia
Memorabilia will be distributed after receipt of membership dues.

Digital Newsletter
Members receive periodic email updates featuring organizational news, upcoming events, educational resources, member highlights, and more. 

Educational and Training Event Discounts
Members may receive free or reduced-cost admission or registration for select events hosted by The Lead Dog Project such as workshops, lectures, clinics, practice sessions, education programs, symposium events, and more.

Priority Registration
Members may receive early access to registration forms for select events hosted by The Lead Dog Project such as workshops, lectures, clinics, practice sessions, education programs, symposium events, and more.

Member Recognition
Members may be recognized through member spotlights, acknowledgements at events, or listings on the organization’s website.

Legacy Member Recognition — Inaugural Membership Year (2026-2027) Only

Individuals who join during the organization’s inaugural membership year will be recognized as Legacy Members, including:

  • Permanent acknowledgment as a Legacy Member on the organization’s website
  • One-time Legacy Member patch

4. Modification of Benefits

Feedback regarding the Membership Benefits Policy will be collected annually during the Annual Membership Meeting. Following the meeting, the Board of Directors will review both the policy and all member feedback.

The Board of Directors may add, remove, or modify membership benefits at its discretion in order to best support the organization’s mission, operational needs, and member experience.

Any changes to benefits will be communicated to members through official organizational communication channels such as email, newsletters, or the organization’s website.

Membership benefits are provided as a courtesy and expression of appreciation for supporting the mission of The Lead Dog Project. Benefits are not guaranteed entitlements and may be modified or discontinued at any time by the Board of Directors.
